Dedicated to realize Prime Minister’s vision for a Digital India, Reliance launched its 4G services in India at the company’s 42nd Annual General Meeting in Mumbai. Reliance Jio will start giving its services from September 5 and the network has an official launch slated for December this year. Offering data at prices which are lowest in the world has redefined telecommunication basics in the country. With plans ranging from Rs.149 to Rs.4999, customers will get free calls, free SMSs and zero roaming charges, across any network all over the country. 1GB of data costs just Rs.50 which is one tenth of what incumbent operators like Airtel or Vodafone are charging currently.
Jio’s services will span across 18,000 cities and towns and more than 2 lakh villages. The company aspires to cover 90% of India’s population by March 2017. Jio smartphones are also in store, with price range starting from Rs.2, 999 – a very appealing price for a majority of Indians. A complimentary subscription to Jio Apps, till December 31, 2017 worth Rs.15, 000 is also in the store. There is a special student discount as well: students can avail 25% off on main tariff costs. Jio also plane to tie up with hundreds of Indian entrepreneurs to let their ventures flourish on the company’s telecommunication network.
